Our History.

All good causes start somewhere. Yakutat Bay Foundation was created in early 2020 by Andrew and Rose Gildersleeve. After incubating in the shallows of the mighty Situk river, it’s ready to swim out into the endless ocean to start its long journey of protection and conservation.

Yakutat Bay Foundation is a US environmental advocacy organization nonprofit, based in Yakutat, Alaska. The organization’s focus is on protecting Yakutat Bay a wild region of Southeast Alaska coast which starts in Disenchantment Bay and extends south to the Gulf of Alaska.
